October 29, 2010 We lost our special rescued
boy on October 17, 2010 due to cancer/tumor. He was sick on Thursday and died that Sunday at age 7. This is the original
write-up below about our special boy. We will miss this guy as long as we live. When I can stand it I will upload a
few more videos. Sincerely, Margo, Dachshund Rescue NW RIP BBB.
Adventures of a Rotten Dog's Life!
This
web site album is all about our well-loved Dachshund, Bad Baby Bogart. He is a rescue dog that we have kept at Dachshund
Rescue NW and is now our rescue's mascot. We love our special dog so much that I decided to start his own album of all
the funny photos and his rotten dog adventures since his arrival to our lives.
This boy
is a very photogenic and handsome boy who will be five in August 2008. This is my best guess because most recycled
dogs do not come with paperwork including health histories or birthdates. We do not care how old he is, only that
Bad Baby stays happy, healthy and as snotty as one spoiled dog can be in his lifetime. But I am guessing he was less
than six months old when we got him.
Bad Baby is a standard-sized, shorthaired, black and red,
neutered male who almost always wears a red bandana during his work day of helping me train our horses. Bad Baby is
26 pounds of pure wiener trouble, but that is part of his wiener charm. Plus he is a charming "Daddy's Boy"
who has wrapped my husband around his paw so Dennis does his bidding.
Bogart also goes on long
trail rides and follows right along with us or he barks at horses in the bull pen to train them as needed. But his full-time
job is to really get into trouble on the farm and see how he can be a Bad Baby to live up to entire name. He is a happy
dog though even when causing problems and barking at visitors as every good watch dog should then licking faces later or
hunting moles and mice.
And Bogart loves his cat Race. They came to the farm about
the same time and now they are best buddies. See Race's photos on this site too.
And sometimes Bogart
is a very good boy who is a visiting therapy dog for seniors in rest homes, a personal greeter of all children at parades,
horse shows or fairs, a wagon-riding lazy boy when we are in any parades or riding on our Wiener Train, a ball chasing
dog extraordinaire (he could put any Lab to shame), a soccer playing demon and an ambassador for our breed as he goes
to many pet events throughout the year here at our hometown of Spokane, WA, to promote our dog club and rescue.
It is too funny to watch Bad Baby trying to "kill" his beach balls
and the crowds at our dog adoption events always laugh when they see him do that "famous" trick. This dog
thinks all balls over the size of a tennis ball should be murdered.
Bad Baby's other number one
job is as a greeter of all rescued doggies that come to our farm. Bogart meets and greets them all.
He then he lets them know that they have come to have fun until we find them new homes. Every dog that we get into our
dog rescue adores Bogart for his cheerful, happy, fun loving nature. There isn't any dog he can't get along with
in his happy life. And Bogart will drag the most shy dog into some wiener mischief to make them happy dogs as well
while teaching how spoiled Dachshunds should really act in life before we find them new homes.
For doing this job of helping is retrain our abused and neglected rescues, Dennis and I will always be thankful
that someone turned Bogart into our rescue in 2003 "because he played too much." He is by far the best dog
that we have ever had the pleasure of having around. We are both thankful for Bad Baby as he is making us
laugh constantly even as he is destoying our home, licking cat's faces or killing mice and moles.
Bogart and great dogs like him are the reason why Dennis and I recycle unwanted dogs because any throwaway
dog can be a great dog with enough training, attention, treats and love.
I hope you enjoy
my photos of our funny wiener boy and some of Dennis' hilarious stories. I take critter photos professionally,
but I do love Bad Baby as one of my favorite subjects in addition to my husband pictured here on the left.
Sincerely,
Margo Mossburg
