How it works for us to help you sell your horse?
We take in your horse and board them here while doing some tune up horse training so we can best find the right way to
sell your horse. You pay to board your horse while it is at our farm. We are selling the horses "as is" with some
minor work so we know them before selling them. And we will not sell a horse that we do not know so we can help guarantee
them to their new owners. We ask that you bring your horse here so we can show them as we are only a few minutes away
from the airport and from Spokane.
If we work your horses here too then you agree in a contract to board the horse for at least two months with us
and you pay for all costs relating to the horses care at the beginning of each month like trims, worming and shoeing, shots,
transportation (if you want us to show your horse locally or regionally), horse show costs like entry fees, etc. We
will do tune up training for free until the horse is sold hence the commission at the time of the sale.
The board bill is pain in advance of each month as we do not want to feed and work horses that we do not own when we
could be working ours for free instead. We will only take post dated checks to cover their board bill and return any
unused checks to you once the horse is sold.
That tune up training means working your horse an average of once a week. That is enough to keep them in shape
and get to know them for the buyers.
If you want full-time professional training on your horse especially with a horse with no or very little training
before we meet then the full training cost is $600 a month plus other care, ad expenses and transportation.
If your horse is a wild thing, nasty, mean and/or mostly unworked then we will not be able
to sell them for you so please do not call or email us about a horse that has no market to be sold. No one wants wild
or nasty horses no matter how well bred or pretty.
People are looking for broke, sweet Morgan horses under $6,000. Registered youngsters sell for around $2,500 each.
If the horse is trained to death with a perfect head set and manners and many show ring wins then we can get more for them
then the stated averages above, but each horse's prices are different and can not be set until we meet your horse.
We will all agree on the final selling price so you know what we think your horse is worth. You can bring
the horse to us or we can come to you for a test drive and evaluation too if they are shed out so we can see them to see if
this is a horse we can sell for you. Now and then we meet ones that have no calue and do not want to waste everyone's
time marketing a lame or majorly foundered horse or one that is so old it should be retired, etc.
When we sell your horse then we are paid a 25% commission on the final sales price when the horse is sold for
you and that is paid first even if you decide to accept payments.
If we do not sell the horse then you do not pay that commission price only the full
care boarding fee of $250 per month per horse, and that includes some free training and photos to go home with you to
continue marketing your horse.
We also will take all the marketing photos and videos and we start the marketing process online and networking with those
we know are looking for broke horses.
Expenses that you will need to pay before the horse is removed: You will also need pay for any paid ads on web
sites (Usually a $100 gets us started hitting all horse marketing sites) or local advertising in newspaper ads plus postage
for mailing photos and videos as well as long distance calls, but we will agree on all those expenses in advance.
We will meet and greet the public here at our farm when they come to take your horse for a test drive or meet them.
We are the horse trainers in the sale especially if you do not have time meet people during work hours. We work
horses at home so folks can come here almost any time to meet your horses.
We only market and sell about five to ten horses a year including the few we sell for us so if you are interested
in our services then we will start that sales process in May for you. You will need to bring the horse to
our farm to get started and then you pay us to haul the horse to local events like horse shows or horse sales like our Fifth
Annual Stallion Showcase and Horse Sale if they come here in early April. This event is not an auction, but a private
treaty horse sale that we started to help others sell their horses too. And we kick off the summer horse sales season
at this event we founded and manage each year. To see more on that horse open house:

NEW IN 2009: We added a second day to the event above called the First Annual Morgan Springfest
Show and Sale at
http://www.spokanemorganclub.org/springfest If we take your horse your horse gets a free stalls but you will need to pay $25 for the day to cover fuel costs and
our time in showing your horse for you at our event.
The Morgan Internet marketing will also be on a minimum of 20 of the best horse sales web sites. Most of those
sites are free and we will add your horses, but if they are a paid photo or video ad then you will agree to those expenses
to place photos or we will just place a free ad with us as the contact without the photos. No bills will be sent
that you are not aware of the costs up front and you decide how much you want to invest in the sale of your horse.
Again, if we do not sell your horse in two to three months then all the photos we took are yours to keep
to help you continue marketing your horse on your own. But after 40 years in Morgans as trainers we really do know who
is looking for what type of horse for sale and will price and market the horse best suited for your horse's personality and
division in the show ring or as a breeding horse or trail horse.
We only live about 10 minutes from the local airport and only a few turns to see the horses for sale in person.
And we live only 15 minutes from Spokane so folks come out to meet the horses here before buying and will spend
as much time needed to answer all their questions too.
If we can set the final price on your Morgan with you then we can guarantee that we can sell your horse.
Now and then folks over price their horses and we can't get them sold. That is rare, but it does happen in this current
horse market especially if the horses have no previous training, the horse does not have correct halter conformation, the
horse has never been off the farm or have never been in a horse show ring or the horse is without sought after bloodlines
or the latest desired colors and/or no foals on the ground. All those factors will play a part when we help set a price
for your horse.
We find horses will sell better once people can see them in person and we will be happy to take your horse off the farm
to events at least once a month if you are not capable of doing this yourself if you pay those expenses. Hiding horses
on the farm is not the best way to sell any horses especially the charming Morgan breed.
And with us placing ads on the Internet is always great, but again we want to meet the new owners to make sure that they
will provide a good home for your horse. We are not horse dealers and all sales to horse buyers go to those homes that
can afford to own a horse so we have all prospective buyers meet the horses in person if possible.
Once your horse is sold then we also assist in finding a shipper if needed, schedule and meet with the brand inspector
as needed, the Coggins and health certificate from the vet, a prepurchase exam from the vet, all the paperwork is in order
so the horse can traval and be sold as a registered Morgans and any follow-up as needed.
We always need reservations for horse marketing so if you need our help please contact us soon as our 2009 book
is filling up fast. I only work two marketing horses at a time to be sold in addtion to my own horses here too.
All horses coming in will need an appointment set before arrival. I average taking one month to sell a
horse if I am allowed to set their price based on current Morgan market conditions otherwise you will need to pay their board
bill before taking them home. I have only had one mare I could not sell in the last 6 years out of 40 head of horses
so odds are pretty good that we can get them a new home even when this is a buyer's market the last few years.
But please call Margo for more details and send me your horse's registration papers, any photos and past
training information at 509-796-2140. Please leave a message if you get voicemail or email dragoonfr @ hotmail.com (remove
spaces before emailing) We our usually working outside so email is the best way to reach us.
